Meet the Team – Community Lead

by | Aug 19, 2024

We’re excited to introduce Lara Malta, our passionate Community Lead. Lara is behind our channels and social media strategy, driving engagement and building meaningful connections. Join us as we explore Lara’s journey, her approach to community building, and the energy she brings to Klayr.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hey, hey, hey, I’m Lara Malta, Community Lead at Klayr. I´m originally from Brazil (Nordestina & Baiana) but moved around in the past few years (BR, CAN, NL, PT). I am on the very extreme side of an extroverted personality and love getting to know people- yes, a true social butterfly, or should I say social Klayrfly 😅🤗

My biggest asset is my energy!

If you are curious, I graduated in Marketing and Advertising with an exchange program in Finance, Business, and Marketing. I am currently taking a European IT Certification in Artificial Intelligence. I´ve immersed myself in entrepreneurship from a very young age and have always been completely in love with business, marketing, and technology. That said, I also try to advocate as much as possible for diversity and inclusion in the Tech and Business ecosystem.

Let’s start with the next questions. Otherwise, I could go on forever- I’m a big talker. 👇🔥

What are your passions and hobbies?

I have A LOT of hobbies. When it comes to sports, you name it, I have probably already done it, from Ballet and gymnastics to Basketball and Rugby. Now, I am trying to maintain consistency in the gym (which I started when I was 15). I quite like adrenaline as well.

On the not-so-sporty side, I love doing new things, signing up for new membership clubs to meet strangers (not in a weird or romantic way), going out to have brunch or dinner with friends and family, talking, reading, writing, recording videos, taking pictures for memory, and, of course, traveling. All that, just to mention a few, but we haven’t got all day, so…next question.

What brought you to Web3?

I have always wanted to know how blockchain works beyond trading and crypto investments, so I joined a startup in 2022 that was in the DeFi and ReFi industry. It was one of the largest blockchain-driven Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) programs, supporting over 45,000 people with UBI in more than 30 countries, with other impactful solutions like Microcredit, a Crypto Wallet, and a Learn & Earn platform.

There, I truly saw, learned, and understood how blockchain could be used to make a real impact on the world and our current issues. It was changing communities across the globe, and more dear to me, in communities in Bahia (the State I was born in). Now, here I am.

What excites you the most about working with and at Klayr?

Definitely, the sheer potential to drive real-world impact through blockchain technology. Klayr isn’t just another blockchain—it’s a platform focused on scalability, accessibility, and delivering tangible solutions. The idea of being part of something that’s designed to bridge the gap between decentralized technology and adoption is incredibly inspiring.

Klayr has the potential to transform industries, empower individuals, and contribute to a more decentralized and equitable digital future. It’s a rare and exciting journey, and I’m thrilled to be part of it.

What do you think are the most important skills for a community manager?

In the Web3 space, a community manager needs a unique blend of skills to thrive. First, you need communication skills and the ability to express yourself well. You also need to understand how to engage in and moderate conversations across various platforms.

Another critical skill is education. Web3 concepts can be complex, and a community manager must be able to break down these ideas. This often means creating educational content, hosting AMAs, and guiding new users through onboarding.

Cultural fluency is also essential. Web3 communities are global, so understanding cultural nuances, language barriers, and time zones is key to ensuring inclusivity and engagement across diverse demographics. Finally, empathy and conflict resolution are vital. Mediating disputes and maintaining a positive community atmosphere is crucial for long-term success.

What do you think will be the next big thing in Web3 communities?

I believe the next big thing in Web3 communities will likely be the rise of DAO-based governance models. As more projects adopt decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), community members will increasingly participate in governance and decision-making processes. This will shift the role of community managers from traditional moderators to facilitators of democratic processes, helping guide discussions, propose initiatives, and educate members on governance protocols.

Not only that, but tokenized incentives will continue to evolve. Communities will leverage tokenomics not just for governance but also for rewarding participation, contributions, and loyalty.

For Community Managers interested in joining blockchain companies, what would you recommend?

START. Start talking to people. Put yourself out there and start strategically networking. Many job opportunities in Web3 come from personal connections, so building relationships is crucial. Most people in Web3 are quite friendly and want more people to join the ecosystem. Look at our team. Does it look like we would just ignore you? Feel free to reach out if you need any help getting started 🙂

I would also recommend deepening your understanding of the technology. Learn the fundamentals of blockchain, DeFi, NFTs, and smart contracts. You don’t need to be a developer, but having a solid grasp of how these technologies work will make you more effective and attractive to employers. And don’t forget to build a solid personal brand- participate actively in communities, contribute to discussions, and share insights on social media. Being visible and respected in the space will make you stand out to potential employers.

What is the message you want to send to other Klayniacs?

As we continue to build and grow in this incredible Klayr ecosystem, I want us all to remember that each one of us plays a crucial role in shaping the future. Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the Web3 world.

It’s more than just blockchain; it’s about creating a community driven by passion, innovation, and the belief that we can create a better, more decentralized future. So, let’s keep the energy high, stay connected, and continue to support each other.

Stay bold, stay curious, and keep pushing the limits, Klayniacs! 🚀Here’s to the future we’re building together—one block at a time.
