Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Michalina, I’m 24. I grew up in Poland and England, and I moved to the Netherlands two years ago after finishing a graphic design degree at Loughborough University. I’ve always been interested in visual things – from websites, packaging, magazines, etc – I have a keen interest in understanding the mechanics of effective design and the reasons behind its success. My work in marketing has deepened my understanding of the decision-making processes behind this. I am dedicated to continuously expanding my skill set to become a better designer.
What are your passions and hobbies?
I have a range of interests that keep me engaged and inspired. I enjoy cooking and experimenting with recipes from various cultures and try to recreate them at home. Movies, gaming, drawing/painting, comics, cycling, and hiking are some of my favorite hobbies. Living in Amersfoort with my boyfriend provides me with a wonderful backdrop for discovering the town together! As well as hanging out with our energetic little cat.
What brought you to Web3?
The opportunity to dive into innovative industries like Web3 is incredibly exciting for me. I appreciate the creative freedom of working in startups, especially in a rapidly evolving space like blockchain. The potential for new and unexpected creative use cases keeps me motivated and eager to contribute to projects that push the boundaries of design and technology in fun teams.
What excites you the most about working with and at Klayr?
Learning about marketing, exploring a broad range of design skills and working in a UX design team is a great way to learn a range of key skills. Contributing to brand development in a startup environment is exhilarating, as it involves making impactful design decisions and shaping a brand from the ground up. During my trainee experience, I have had the privilege of learning from many skilled professionals like Lukas and Thom, and I deeply value the insights and expertise they’ve shared. This learning experience has influenced my career for years to come.
What do you do to get into a focused and productive mode?
I love to scroll and see new design trends online; it excites me to see something and try to recreate it. I find that enjoying a good cup of coffee while taking walks helps me clear my mind and refocus!
If your design tools were superheroes, which one would be your sidekick in the Web3 world? Why?
Illustrator would be my sidekick in the Web3 world as it is the Batman of design tools—versatile, precise, and always ready to tackle complex challenges. In the decentralized landscape of Web3, where visual identity and branding play a huge role, Illustrator is the one that designates not only the logos but also the interfaces, logos and illustrations with sharp vector graphics. It’s the sidekick that makes sure every line, curve, and color is pixel-perfect, helping me to create visually stunning, scalable assets that stand out. But Figma is cool, too – it’s sleek and great for apps, and you can even use it for motion design!?
What’s the most mind-blowing thing you’ve learned about blockchain that you wish more people knew?
One of the most fun aspects of blockchain is its potential to democratize access to information and services. It has the ability to create environments where transactions can occur securely without intermediaries. This opens up new possibilities for innovation and collaboration that can reshape industries in ways we are only beginning to understand.
For others interested in joining blockchain companies, what would you recommend?
I recommend starting with a solid understanding of the underlying technology and its uses. Engage with the community through forums and meetups to learn from experienced professionals and developers. Attend events and ask questions! Staying adaptable and open-minded is key!
