In a recent article for Blockworks, Klayr’s CEO, Lukas Bronsvoort, called out the elephant (or should we say the man in the gorilla suit?) in the room of the Layer 2 hype cycle.
He argues that the intense focus on the technological possibilities around L2s has made us blind to points of centralization, which can constitute a single point of failure, as well as the limits to the transaction capacity of L2s.
The solution? Reallocating some of the focus to the development of a diverse and competitive L1 landscape in which the power doesn’t rest all on a single chain, but rather distributed across many.
