Hi Klayr Community,
As we move further into 2025, we want to share an important update regarding the future of the Klayr project.
Over the past year, Klayr Labs has worked to advance the Layer 1 technology and expand the ecosystem. While significant progress was made, sustaining operations within the current structure proved challenging.
The Onchain Foundation, which supported us through a grant agreement, recently decided to conclude our partnership one year earlier than planned. Since Klayr Labs was funded through this monthly grant, this meant that as of January 1st, we no longer had funding. While this change was unexpected, we are grateful for their support over the past year and have since been evaluating the best path forward for Klayr.
As a result, from January 1st onwards, we scaled down operations, returning to a core team focused on maintaining the project. Unfortunately, this also meant making the difficult decision to part ways with our team, whose dedication and contributions have been invaluable. We are deeply grateful for their hard work and commitment to Klayr.
Since then, we have been actively exploring the best path forward for Klayr, ensuring the project’s continuity and long-term sustainability. After careful consideration, we are pleased to share that the ADAMANT developer community has stepped forward with the intent to take over the Klayr project. They are committed to maintaining and further developing the ecosystem, ensuring stability for both the network and its community.
As part of this transition, they will take over key infrastructure, including the servers, explorer, website, and social channels. Additionally, we aim to transfer the KLY token treasury to the ADAMANT team to support future development.
From the very beginning, we envisioned Klayr as a more community-driven initiative, and although this transition is now happening sooner than expected, we believe that the combination of the ADAMANT developer community and Klayr will significantly increase the chances of success.
About ADAMANT
ADAMANT is a highly motivated and experienced team that brings valuable expertise to the project. Moreover, they are the most suitable community to take over Klayr, as they have been familiar with the Lisk L1 codebase and infrastructure since 2017. Additionally, they even integrated Klayr wallet support into their Web3 Messenger last year.
Next Steps
In the coming period, our focus will be on ensuring a smooth handover and closing down Klayr Labs as a company. We will work closely with the ADAMANT team to support the transition to a community-driven model.
After taking over the Klayr project, the ADAMANT community plans to evolve its technology into a new project. While further development will primarily focus on the new project, they will continue maintaining Klayr. The main reason for this step is to introduce new tokenomics, which aims to remove Lisk legacy stakes while retaining mainstream user accounts and expanding the Klayr community with ADAMANT users. New tokenomics significantly increases the viability of the project and the chances of success. More details will be shared as the project progresses.
——
We want to thank everyone who has contributed to Klayr’s journey so far, including our team, supporters, and the broader community. If you are interested in getting involved or have ideas for the project’s future, we encourage you to reach out. Additionally, if you are a developer interested in joining the ADAMANT community to contribute, please contact [email protected].
Changes to KLY users and delegates
At this time, nothing has changed. You can continue using the same wallet, running a delegate and using exchanges to trade KLY. Thank you for using and supporting the Klayr project.
More updates will follow soon.
Sincerely,
The Klayr Labs Team
